Thoughts: On Going Greener

by Bronte Tagliani

These days global warming is a pretty hot topic. It's easy to realize that we (humanity) are the problem, so it must then also follow that we can be the ones to fix the problem. It's not an easy task and it has had me thinking a lot this week about the amount of garbage that each of us puts into dumps and landfills around the globe. I do my part to recycle what I can but lately I've been feeling terrible about the amount of disposable diapers that Eva Rose is using and now that she has made the jump to some solid foods, it's amazing to see the amount of poop that one small baby can make! I know the "poop" face all too well and those deposits are silent but deadly, I'm sure that any parent can sympathize with us.

Making the switch to cloth diapers is the obvious choice, well not exactly. See, I've also been thinking about the amount of water we consume and where it comes from? Is the source a local river or dam, is it reclaimed and treated water? If I start using cloth diapers, yes, that's less garbage for landfill but more water used for cleaning! If we increase our water usage, then who will be left without? It seems like we are in a no-win situation here and I'm left asking myself, so what would my "greenest" friends be doing... What would you be doing?
